Classes are leveled based on dance experience and knowledge of the curriculum. Students are continually evaluated and may move levels throughout the dance season if appropriate. Students must have a solid foundation of Soft Shoe techniques before moving on to Hard Shoe.
This 30 min class is designed for 3 1/2 thru 5 year-old students. We work on skips, hops, points and kicks in preparation for basic jigs.
This class is for new students and those who have been dancing less than 2 years. Students will learn basic Irish dance movements as well as reels, jigs and slip jigs. Students also learn ceili or group dances.
Students in these levels, have been dancing 2+ years. They have mastered basic movements of Irish dance, have a good understanding of counting music and are starting to progress to more complicated movements. Dancers in Level 3-4 must demonstrate skill in Irish dance movements, understanding of music/tempos, and have good attendance at class.
This class is for students who have been moved up to Soft Shoe Level 2 or higher and are interested in learning hard shoe technique. In Level 1, students learn the basic 4 parts of a rally, and begin to learn treble reels and treble jigs.
Students in these levels have mastered the basic hard shoe technique of Level 1. In Level 2, students continue to work on treble reels and treble jigs, as well as begin hornpipes. All Level 2 dances are done at the traditional speed. Students will also learn traditional set dances. In Level 3, students work on more advanced hard shoe tricks. Level 3 students are taught treble jigs and hornpipes at non-traditional speeds. They also continue to work on treble reels and traditional sets.
Performance team is a group of students who wish to learn extra choreography throughout the year. It is open to any dancers who has been dancing for at least 1 year. These students will have more dances to perform at dance out events. There will also be some events that are only available to Performance Team Members.
*Attendance at the Conshohocken St. Patrick's Day Parade is Mandatory for Performance team.
All students are eligible to compete if desired. During competition class, students perfect their technique on selected steps from their class curriculum that will be used during a Feis, or competition. Students practice in Feis scenario, having to step forward, count, dance and bow as they would during Feis. Students competing may also learn additional steps, or edits to steps that make them more competitive.
Adult class is open to anyone no matter what level experience you have. We learn solo and ceili (group) dances. Adult class is a fun, no pressure environment with good friendship and lots of laughs.
